Artist Statement:
I am interested in examining idiosyncrasies in relationships, particularly within the structure of care. My confessional art becomes time capsules from my chronology, digesting the everyday thoughts and feelings. Nonrepresentational symbols consisting of material and found objects communicate specific ‘instances’, often neutrally displaying multiple sides.
My process is grounded in meticulous obsession coupled with external variation: distressing, dyeing, and time-based ageing. My process is informed by intuitively creating by assembling, building up, and taking away. The materials I use take on new forms within different contexts, making writing particularly important in grounding the works within context. I often reuse objects and forms to communicate similar ideas: like using the same ‘words’ in different ‘sentences’. I intend to emphasize material while communicating ideas minimally. I think of my final forms as pillars that exude the essence of the concept.
